Cezasının büyük bölümünü geçirdiği Reading Hapishanesi'nden Douglas'a yazdığı mektup, kendisini sefahate sürüklediği ve sonra da sahip çıkmadığı için genç adama yönelttiği suçlamalarla doluydu. Wilde'ın mektubu Douglas'ın eline geçmese de, 1905'te De Profundis adıyla yayımlandıktan sonra gerçek okuruna ulaşabildi.Edebiyat tarihinin bu ünlü mektubunu, yazarın yakın dostu ve hayranı Andre Gide'in önsözü eşliğinde, Roza Hakmen'in çevirisiyle sunuyoruz.Türkiye'den 20 çağdaş fotoğrafçı Can Klasikleri'nin bu özel dizisi için 20 kitabın kapak fotoğrafını özgün yorumlarıyla hazırladı.
