Some users have reported that the jig is made of cheap plastic and melted while drilling through 3/4" hard maple, causing the drill bit to move out of alignment and ruin the work piece. There are three sizes of dowel holes that can be used, but a new backer board is needed for each unless the board is unscrewed and moved over to create a new zero clearance hole. The Kregg clamps might be a better option than other brands to hold the jig in place during drilling. Overall, the Rockler Doweling Jig is a handy tool, but with some limitations.
